    Unusual Wiedmann Flak Badge

I picked up this badge today for a song,I checked it against Marc's book and everything matches up except the hardware.Measurements and weight are spot on from those listed in the book and the finish and detail are very good also.Jay Parisi

That is some strange hardware for a Wiedmann. I can't see if it's just a case of replaced hardware from your photos.

I'm inclined to say replaced hinge and pin

Badge looks good though the hardware is not original to it IMHO. Can you show a closeup of where the hardware attaches?

                  Jay,
It is pretty clear they are eplacements - it is most evident with the hinge where you can see the dark underlay of the location of the original. The catch may be original - the plate most likely is. I have not seen one with this type of catch on the plate but that may just mean I haven't seen it before! But the hinge and pin are replacements. Not the biggest deal if you ask me. They are on the back after all!

                      Hi All,
With that being said, I think there is a great chance the whole reverse setup is replaced. It wouldn't be the first time a badge was missing hardware and pieces were added to make it complete. As Marc stated, hinge and pin definately are replacements, catch more than probable. A good looker from the front though! For a good price,I'd pick it up! (a 'song' sounds reasonable!)

Guys,Thanks for your inputs I thought the badge was good but the hardware was not standard for Wiedmann,I bought the badge for $25.00 at a local show and figured it would be good for a display piece on a tunic.Jay Parisi

Hey Jay, I'll splurge and give you $30.00 for it - you can make your money back and have a little pocket change to boot!
