          Hi David,

This is a common Staegemeir FAKE, don't touch it.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Obviously cast from an original example! This ballbag is dangerous to say the least. I've put this in a side by side comparison with my own badge and needless to say it is eerily close from the obverse. The overall finish is way off base though.

                      Yes we do.

I've had this badge for the last 24 hours for an inspection and have taken some measurements.

                      Weight...37gms
                      Height....53.8mm
                      Width......42.5mm.

I read a thread where Tom gave the measurements of an original PM para badge and compared with the above they are almost exact. Also, the above badge hinge block is NOT of crimped sheetmental but a solid block type as is found on originals.

                      Regards,
                      AB.

                        Hi Andrew,

Those dimensions I gave in that other thread were only for a certain type of fake Meyabuer Para badge (not made by Staegemeir). The Staegemeir-made Para fakes have the correct dimensions, which makes them a bit more dangerous, but if you are holding it in hand you will definately be able to feel the difference compared to an original. I have held a few Hero fakes and they always felt greasy to me, and the texture of the metal he uses is very different than originals. Something that is hard to see in pictures, but in hand I could tell pretty easily.
