    Pilots Badges Info

    Hello Gents,

A friend E-mailed me a couple of Pilots badges asking me what I thought, I gave him my opinion but thought I would get the opinion of the experts.
(Appologise I have only been supplied frontal photographs)

        Hi guys,

Impossible to be sure without reverse pics, but here is what I see:

        1. Likely Reproduction, since it has a BSW eagle, but a Meybauer wreath!

        2. Original Assmann

        3. Reproduction, made by Souval.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

          Makers Marks

Hi Guys, Thanks for your feedback,

I have just been updated the marker on these badges are as follows

          1 - W. Deumer, Ludenschied

          2 - Assmann "A"

3 - 800 makers mark ( I guessed this one was a reproduction from the get go) as far as Im aware no pilots marked 800 are original.

              Hi Chris,

Yes, 1 and 3 are most certainly reproductions. #2 is likely an original, but its always good to see the reverse to be sure.

The 800 mark on #3 is for sure a bad sign, but there is an 800-marked Juncker type badge that MAY be original. The jury is still out on this one since it is likely made by a jewler, we don't have much to compare it to.

Im sure some good lookin pilots badges are jewler made fakes . These are probably most expensive luftwaffe badges and profit is profit.

                            Hello There Remerus,
The Deumer Pilots badge is definitely repro and the dealer has been previously informed of this, The cased Junker observers badge he tried to sell you was definitely repro which he knew about as was the OM P/O badge he sold you which he was also previously informed about, The spanish cross he is selling is repro which the dealer also knows, however IMHO the Assman Pilots looks OK, just be careful with this dealer based on his recent history of trying to sell known repro badges,
                            Regards, Shaneos3

                              Hello Shane,

Thankyou for your response on this one! It would seem that our friend Doesn't mind passing off the odd repro as original which makes it hard for the students of this fine hobby me being one of them.
I will definetly take this bloke with a pinch of salt as his track record with me so far is not so stella, although not all that he has is bad it just take a person with a refined eye to sort the good gear from the crap!
