Another LW summer tunic eagle

I have had this for years but have always considered it highly dubious even though it is beautifully made. But nobody has ever been able to tell me conclusively, one way or the other, if it is a fake. If it is a fake, then I have never seen another one like it. In fact, I have never seen anything like it in almost 30 years of serious interest in this subject.

First of all I must say I haven't seen a eagle like this either.
It looks like a die-struck piece to me.
It doesn't match the second pattern eagle.
I like the wings,but then the head,body and the claws aren't what I would call very German,and why is the swas filled like this ?
If real I can't imagine why the L/50 firm didn't follow the second pattern design?
A while ago I've seen a lovely die struck second pattern eagle,but unfortunately it also turned out to be a fake.
Just my thoughts about this one.

Oddly enough I recently encountered a LW summer tunic eagle EXACTLY like this, Prosper. It was also "L/50" marked and had the same type of pin to the reverse.

The quality of the piece was very nice. High detail and well made...but I questioned it not only because of the source (a shop where at least 50% of the stock is dubious or obviously repro) but because I had never encountered an example like this before either.

As this kind of thing really isn't my area, I was unsure whether a breast eagle would have an L-number like this rather than a maker's logo, such as the recently discussed Assman examples?

I did not purchase the badge, but somebody must have thought it was okay as it was gone last time I visited the shop.

Have any others encountered this variety? I curious to know if I passed on a good one.

I also have a L/50 LW tunic eagle, die struck just like yours.
I picked it up in the early 70's. I was surprised to upen your posting and see yours since it's the first one I have seen like mine. In Angolias book for Führer and Fatherland he has a list of L numbers that was provided by the firm Stainhauer & Lück which gives the firm of Karl Gschiermeister of Wien the #L/50. this may or may not be the right number as these numbers were always changing. jnoble

Summer breast eagles

Hi fellows,

This is a reproduction summer eagle made in the 1960's. The pins on the reverse are usually very thin and needle like. Not a thicker correct style pin.

Remember seeing one of these in a local shop about 5 years ago. Same eagle style and same L/50 MM. I thought it was a repro then. The shop owner believed it was too, but he thought it was a nice looking eagle.
