I second this as my problem with the Big A. Can anyone post this more or less exact photo of a Big A to compare details, or lack thereof?

Is a second pattern Junckerbadge as crisp as a first pattern..?

I have watched the various threads about these for a while. Financially I hope these big A's are good. My instinct says probably not. Let me explain. I have three in aluminum. Two of them came from a dealer that seems to have sold me a number of fakes. Some were pretty good. I do not want to go into that now. The same dealer also sold me one in gold. It is made of brass or a similar material not aluminum. I can not tell if it has been plated. It has a different catch and pin setup. It looks to be from the exact same die as the big A's. The detail is much sharper and finer. Now the kicker - it is marked B&N. I have studied the maker mark and it seems right. My camera will not take pictures of good enough quality to show all of this. My scanner will only show detail "on the glass". I showed the gold one to Bill Shea and he said something along the line of (If I were looking to add one of these to my collection it would probably not be this one.) Not a direct quote but close. Sorry that I can not offer any answer. Just adding something to consider.

        Kind Regards,

Scanner is better. The wings are curved so as they go away from the glass things get blurry. This section is actually pretty good. The color is not this bright in person. The scanner made it look like it had been plated yesterday.

              Hi ,

Although the pictures are not that good the B&NL looks like the big A type..

Looking at the back it looks like a cast eagle ,that would indicate that a big A eagle was used to make the mold .

The aluminium big A's are die-struck pieces with sharp edges ,stamped out with a machine.
The B&NL piece you've is probably a casting IMO ,but I can't see clear.

I think we need better pics to investigate ,but I think both eagles you've are made differently .

Another point is the makermark ,the A is raised and part of the eagle ,while the B&NL makermark is stamped in and added later in the process..

But if you ever have the chance to provide a better pic of the B&NL ,we can take a look at it and learn something more .

It seems the feathers are a bit off..

              Thanks ,
              Jos.

Floch himself was selling fake Assmann LW breast eagles at the SOS for 25 dollars each. I was going to buy one as a reference and now that I see this thread I regret that I did not because it would have been usefull to post pix.

The fakes were really amazing and well made. I do not recall if they also had the "DRGM" marking. They were made from aluminum and done in the correct style, ie cast in hinge and the question mark catch and the raised "A" used by this maker.

guys, What About The Ribs Between The Feathers?

If you don't want to agree to the modern fake stylistic eagle feathers, it's hard to refute this catch looks like one you could buy the thousands, today. I wish we had a hardware expert who could recognize these types of items. We should keep our eyes open at large outlets for these types of hardware.

                      Steven ,

If these eagles are Floch made (possible ,and I've no doubts about your story ) ,why is it we have to do so much effort revealing this ?
If these eagles are floating around from the 90's ( ? ) ,someone would 've come with his name...
Just some questions that come to my mind .

And are the Floch eagles the very same eagles...?

If so ,the secret is revealing ,but till that time investigation goes on..

Yuri , about the ribs...,I noticed them on your pic ,but I really have no idea what they are..

Brian ,do you mean Assmann should've used the very same catch ?

I've asked Philippe to see if he can find a catch like the Big A example.

                          Jos,

The ribs are artifacts of modern sloppy aluminum die manufacture.
