Looks like damage? Or such 'flaw' was common for hinge attachment on GB's?

I'm not too sure about this one. The eagle's talons bug me and the catch is a little different than what I've seen before on Brehmers.
Your photo of the hinge is out of focus. Could you try that one again and also a shot of the maker mark straight on?

If this is being offered by a dealer, he should be able to provide better pictures. That's part of the business IMO.

Frank is right, this one could be a Staegemeir reproduction. The obverse and the finish looks a bit odd, better pictures would surely be a big help.

just had a closer look, and I think the base metal underneath the finish is zinc, this makes it a original imo.

Hi guys,

Have you guys seen a Brehmer fake by Staegemeir before? This would be a first for me. Although the catch is not typical of Brehmer badges, I think the badge could be fine. I like the way the finish is fading from the reverse and the hardware, although not typical, looks perfectly fine for wartime hardware in my opinion. I don't see any Staegemeir traits on this badge, but I also don't have anything in my files to compare it. Just looked at all of his websites and I cannot find 1 Brehmer fake from him.

Here is the same area on my Brehmer GAB. I don't really see any differences and I think the piece shown here is perfectly fine IMO>

catch style

I have seen them with this catch style before. I think there is a misprint in Webers book, the catch they show on page 25 under GB is actually a Osang catch from page 29 the thick catch shown on this badge should be in that spot.
I think if memory serves me right it is in the original German paperback.
