    Retired Pilot badge?

Hi, here is an interesting pic from our sister forum. The Gold party badge is interesting, but is that a retired pilot badge on his chest?

It's sooooo hard to tell, but I'd guess it's not, because it looks too small (I'm assuming it would be about the same size as a luft parabadge).

It might be a day badge or something?

      maybe

it might be a cut-out WW1 wound badge!

I think Eric's right--it looks like a cutout 1918 silver wound badge, with some sort of strange dark "splot" on the right of the helmet-- the wreath matches, and I can see three of the swords making an X behind the helmet.

Can't read the signature, and ribbon bar is too blurry for me.

          Meadals out of order

          Hi All,
Don't this chaps awards look a little out of precedence? That questionable "wound badge" and what appears to be a Silesian Eagle I class above the EK I class?

            looks kosher to me!

... but I think the party pin threw the normal order of things out of whack...while the picture may be dated 1941, it may have actually been taken a few years earlier. Otherwise he would have a few more 3rd Reich baubles on his chest.

              NOT A RETIRED PILOT BADGE

I don't think one can in their wildest dreams say that the Wound Badge is a Retired Pilot's Badge. This, of course, is just my opinion.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a period photo of a Retired Pilot's badge being worn on a uniform.
