    Opinions Please on GWL Flak

    Hello gentlemen,

I would like to hear your thought on the hinge assembly on this late war GWL Flak badge. Period or post war?

    Best,
    JD

Both hinge and catch look like the correct period cast-in GWL types.
Rivets look damaged or repaired. Are they dimpled?

      Thank you Lorenzo,

I did not feel that their was any issues here just wanted to bounce it off some of the members. Also here is a link from an earlier thread that clearly shows the same set up.

Looks fine to me also Joe.There wasn't much variation from mid to late war on these flaks' IMO.

          Thank you for the responses,

I would like to know what toughts thier is on the pin, I know that you cannot see much of it, but where it attaches to the hinge, post war ? Also did GWL flaks only have a blunt pin and not a pointed pin as well?

Again look forward to hearing your thoughts.

          Best Regards,
          JD

              Dear Joe,

The vast majority of pins on those are pointy (I have 5 of those in my files, all pointy), but if yours is blunt, it would not worry me too much, I can see no real pin problems.

              Cheers, Frank

The set up is surely correct for a GWL flak. However, I have seen cast copies of these that look good in pictures but held in hand are easily seen to be castings...
