    LW Flak Badge

What is your opinion on this badge. It is not shiny as the photos may indicate. That is from the flash of the camera.

      Hi Todd,

IMO an original nickel silver Luftflak by an unknown maker.

two thinks are a little strange,

      1. the wire going through the hinge, can't imagin what it's going there?
      2. the positioning and color of the eagle compared to the color of the wreath. possible a replacement eagle?

Is the eagle made of the same material as the rest of the badge in your opinion, oris it just dark patina not uncommon on these nickel silver badges.

Here is another one to compare it to.

          Phil,

I think the wire is a replacement for perhaps a missing hinge 'bolt', so it retains the pin, maybe ??? I know mine is a tad lose on mine.

          Kind regards,

          Marcus

              Hi guys,

looks good to me, as Marcus said the wire will just be to hold on the pin after the hinge bolt fell out or got lost. The eagle looks a tad strange to me as well, especially the left wing (as you look at it) but it could just be the angle of the photo.
