I got this badge is a box of stuff it has nice detail no makersmark and no rivits.Could it be a late war badge? Any help would be great thanks.

Is that a bit of gold wash on the lower-left piece of the wreath? If so, it might explain the bright eagle - - perhaps a Pilot/Observer?Comment

Hi guys,
Interesting badge to say the least. I think we have seen one or two of these variants in the past, but no consensus on originality or who produced them. I wouldn't say Assmann simply because Assmann had their own line of Pilot and Observer badges from early brass and nickel silver pieces to late war zinkers. Those all had typical Assmann wreaths and eagles that were used throught the war, so you would be hard pressed to fit any of these badges into an Assmann wartime timeline.
The wreaths of both the pilot and observer badges shown do however match S&L Para badges (maybe that is what you were thinking of Leroy, not Assmann). I also have another pilot badge that is an exact match to the one shown above, with the sole exception of the eagle being rivetted instead of soldered. Here are the pics, courtesty of Christian's collection.
S&L would be the best candidate for these IMO. As to when they were produced exactly is still unknown. IMO, they could go either way, late wartime or early postwar using original wartime parts.
