    Luftwaffe Ehrenpokal

    Hi,
I'm interested in purchasing a Luftwaffe Honor Goblet (ideally an early silver version) and would like some advice from the experts as to determining a good piece from a bad. I know they have been reproduced for quite some time. Additionally, are there any reference books currently available on the Ehrenpokal? Thanks for the help.

    HI,

I am by far an expert but Ive been chasing the same thing down for 10 years.

I have owned a few of the repros if you have even held a real one in your hand you will NOT be fooled by a repro.

They are of low quality and have two main differences.

First, there is no flat space at the bottom for a name.

Next the IRON Cross and eagles are welded on and can NOT be seen from the inside.

Prices for a decent SILVER one are up there.. Ive seen everything from 7,000-25,000 for a Knights cross winner.

The Alpaka one I have I only got in Trade because I was not going to pay the 4500-6,000 for one.

Ill still waiting to find a nice silver one at a flea market or junky antique shop for a few hundred... HAHA arent we all.

Here is what Im talking about on the fake ones.

in the first pic you can see it is of POT METAL.. and over all cheaply made, weak detail compared to an original. Also you see there is no name at the bottom.

Dont have a shot of the inside but here is a shot of a real one

Other key place to look is the bottom. the fakes I had did not have anything.. ALL ORIGINALS will have something either the ALPAKA stamp or the silver content and other stamps.

            Good luck!!!

Not that I have run across..

I know there are a few members that own many goblets perhaps they have seen one.

only the first picture is a REPRO
