    Pilots Obsever Badge - OK?

    Hi Guys,

I have been offered this unmarked PO badge. I would appreciate any opinions as to its authenticity before I go ahead...

    Thanks in advance.

          Hi,

The wreath, hinge and catch look fine to me. The eagle looks unusually dark to me for an "unknown maker / ?FLL" example (maybe only very heavy patina/oxidisation?). The rivets on these examples are commonly "untidy" and it's hard to tell if the rivets on this particular example have been messed with. Finally, the main pin, especially at the hinge end, looks a bit strange to me in this case.

Some decent straight on front and reverse shots would probably help.

          Regards
          Mike

                I certainly don't think that is a P/O.

                Just a pilot's badge with a yellow-ish wreath.

On top of that, I'm not crazy about the hinge, pin, catch, swasi or darkening of the eagle!

I agree with Mike Kenny on this one. It looks like a standard FLL P/O with an heavily oxidized eagle. The gold firegilding on the wreath looks spot on to me for an FLL. The thing that does not look right is the main pin. Rivets look OK for an FLL. The swas is a little thinner than the examples I have on file.
                  best wishes,

I think it's an original badge, I just can't convince myself that it started out as a PO. The eagle looks oxidized, but something just doesn't look quite right. Maybe the photos and maybe my eyes.

Thanks for the heads-up Gents, I guess I'll be giving this one a miss.

A wise move. Better to hold out for one with no issues.
                        best wishes,
