    FLL Pilot badge

I bought this badge several months ago but still have some doubts about the catch. It looks like "n" but not "?" as on other fll pilots from WAF archives. Do you think the catch is ok or was it replaced?

            Hi Alex,

I think it is a nice original. Typically this type of "C" catch is found with a round catchplate, can you look very closely and see if you see any trace of a plate under it? Even if this doesn't have a plate, it is a known way that FLL used to attach the catch. Same can be found on their transitional Para badges, a round wire catch with no catchplate.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

              Hi Milan,

Yes I saw that thread And the hook of my badge seems to be soldered in some other way. But after the second sight I think my badge is ok

                Hi Thomas,

Seems like the catch is soldered directly to the badge. I can't see any signs of the catchplate. Anyway now I have almost no doubts that the badge is good

                  Hi Alex,

Here is the exact same type of catch on an FLL Para badge, soldered directly to the wreath with no catchplate. This was typical of the "transitional" FLL Para badges, and in my opinion, is indicative of a certain time period during the production of FLL badges (probably 1941-1942 timeframe, but that is just a guess on my part).

Seems Tom is right on the money in the above post! I know of another in a local collection with the same catch setup. In any case IMO the Eagle, Swastika and wreath with rivets holding the two together are typical FLL ware. I would guess the rivets are loose allowing the Eagle to rock a bit on the wreath like My later example, and most of the FLL Pilot badges I have held?
A great example IMO and I would be most happy having it in My collection.

To me that is a typical example FLL and in better condition then most Ive seen, no worrieson that one. I have seen them with the catches looking replaced but have learned that is how most of them look.
