That is interesting; I remember a CEJ marked badge that Tim Calvert owned (owns?) and his had cutouts at both ends of the lightning bolts. The one I have has the cutouts at one end and is marked with the typical C.E. Juncker, Berlin SW stamp. Over the years, I have noticed that the earlier ones had both ends cut out, but never seen one (until now) with both ends filled.
So, what do you think here, could this be the last buntmetal variation of this eagle style prior to Juncker changing the design on their RO/AG badge?

ROAGs have always been my weak spot but iam picking up fast on them, I do think your assumption is sound there Tim. Iam very lost on the air gunners badge with the non owner cut bolts, I passed one up for very cheap because i have no experience with them, Iam kicking myself on that one.Iam Uncle Sam

Hi Tim,
I like your theory and there may be something to it, but it seems to have more to do with how motivated the guy doing the work was on that particular day.
I've got two CEJ marked, one with the dual cut out and one with only the forward.
I have a few pics in my files of the early badges with full hallmark and no cutouts, one belongs to Johnny Temp West. John are you out there?
