Tom, you are correct, having looked at it through a loupe I can make out a seam at the point below the wing. The badge has a very very thin metal sheet front and back, however it is not copper. The gilt has worn down on a couple of highpoints on the eagle and what shows through is bright silver metal, thats what made me think it was pure alu, any guesses???
