Badge is of a well known style. Some new (?) features are visible, but still a fake.....same is for the case.

                    Hi Lothringen,

Yes I saw that one too and was also PM'd by the potential buyer. He was quite certain it was an original, but wanted my opinion on it before he purchased it. I told him it was a well made reproduction by Carsten Staegemeir, but haven't heard back from him at all after 2 full days now

I guess he just can't believe it...yet. I have posted pics of the other fake GWL paras from Staegemeir on the forum a while back. These are indeed very well made fakes.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Has anyone sent concerns to Markus / Christian. They are members here and at GCA. Seem to be straight up guys

I'm sure we discussed a badge similar to this last year.

                          Hi Darrell,

I haven't, but I am certain that the potential buyer did since I just got an email back from him stating that he told Markus that he was passing on the badge. I also believe them to be stand-up guys and would consider the evidence agains this well made fake. It indeed is very well made, would fool most collector and dealer if they are not up on all the intracacies of an original textbook GWL.

                            Tom,
Just to confirm, these are all castings, correct?
                            Thanks,
                            Leroy

Why is it that if I fake a watch I've to do some jail, while other people are baking fake things like this, sell them for a huge price and nobody cares except for a few stupid collectors ?
Insurance companies let people invest in items like this and yet there's no law to sew the frauds nor the dealers who well know these are fake and if they don't I pity them.
                              Source is always unknown,... uhuh..
Last funny thing I've heard was that some fraudulant dealers wanted to sew a customers who said their goodies were fake..
I think we're born victims in this hobby and frauds are ruling, unless some law will end all this.
I think it'll be easy to sew them, their ovens are still hot, their badges warm and the trail will lead to many dealers buying first hand well knowing what they're buying..
Again, nothing against the dealer who doesn't know, but he should be more careful than we already are.
The minefield would be much smaller when greed was a little bit more eliminated.
These high end fakes only have a chance because of the outrageous prices, the kick of many collectors..., the prices that is, not the item..
If you fetish a high (over) priced item, better fasten your seatbelts and crank up your knowledge..., but even then..
Too many cased minties in our world and they keep coming..
Just raise your price a bit more, enjoy the profit and the perfect fake is just around the corner..
The more you gain, the more you'll have to study..., your money is to build the better machines, moulds, dies etc..

                              Jos.
