          WHY ???

          Hallo

          Explain your position. Which parts or parameters of a badge cause in you doubts. As, whether who saw original badge, and whether who knows something, about silver pilot - observer.

          Thank

            Hi Borgir,

            I have to agree that the PO badge you've posted images of is a reproduction - very nicely finished but a repro. The eagle, wreath, rivets and maker mark are simply not like those found on genuine Juncker Pilot or PO badges.

            It would be worthwhile looking at the following badges using the attached links. Keep in mind that there are 2 main types of early Juncker Pilot/PO badges - both types were produced as pilot badges and pilot-observer badges with the only difference between the pilot and pilot-observer badges being the finish - ie Juncker did not have a special set of dies only for their pilot-observer badge. The link to the Juncker Pilot-Observer badge shows a first pattern badge. The link to the Pilot badge shows a second pattern badge. There are significant differences between the 2 patterns (even with the poor quality pilot badge images) and your badge does not resembly either pattern. Look at the reverse profiles of the wreaths for a start.

            Regards
            Mike K

            Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

              Questions

              1. Whether one stamps for manufacturing badges from different materials were used?
              2. whether varied during war stamps at Junckers (or at other manufacturers)
              3. whether was such, what different manufacturers exchanged stamps, bought parts of badges from other firms etc.?

                Borgir;

                Just as the Osang and Juncker marked Air Gunner/Engineer badges look identical, there are also GWL marked badges that look identical to this badge.

                Tony
                Best regards,

                Tony
