That looks like a Buntmetall A/DRGM pilot badge, only the second I have seen (next to mine). Fantastic grouping!

.. to confirm that it is Buntmetall A/DRGM...
As "my" pilot was using 2 pilot badges, which one was originally awarded, paper shows early date ??

                  Hi Stefan,

Very nice grouping, I just love that nickel silver Assmann made on the dies that were typically used for their Aluminum badges! Very rare bird you have there.

I would bet that the Assmann is the one that was awarded with the document. It is on a die that was used by Assmann on their aluminum pilot badges, which were very early, so that is the first clue. Second clue would be that it is heavily repaired, and was probably in use for quite a while by the pilot. And thirdly, B&NL badges are usually associated with a later period in the war IMO (their paras are almost exclusively made of zink, etc.). It is commonly thought that Assmann, Juncker & Deumer were the first companies to get the earliest contracts on the luftwaffe badges.

                  Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Two questions: what are the second and last ribbons on the ribbon bar, and was the third gull added on the tabs following promotion?

                    Wonderful grouping!

Good eye on the tabs Leroy, I missed that. A definite field upgrade that is seldom seen! Adds a lot of character. Wish I could comment on the ribbons--

Thanks, Gene. Now that I look closer, it may be even the top AND bottom gulls!

Some day I'd love to own a grouping of this caliber! Thanks for showing some of the awards. The DkiG looks mint! Did he get that late in the war?

Thanks for posting Stephan, awesome! Is the RK an L/12?

Nice call Gene, I wonder if it is cast buntmetal seeing as how the hinge sides appear to be integral to the wreath.

Agree with you Tom and that would make the early thin Assmann badges pre- Nov. 1938.

Gene, have you posted your DRGM BM Assmann?
