    Reconnaissance clasp

This is a clasp which is mm'd C.E. Juncker. I have offered it to a collector but wonder if the pin/ hinge have been replaced. I know almost nothing about clasps so comments would be welcome from experienced clasp collectors.

        Reconnaissance Clasp

        Michael,

        Here are some more pics.

I too believe that the pin and hinge are contemporary to the piece. It was vet-acquired so it has not been repaired in the recent past. Maybe silver hardware was sometimes used by Juncker on these clasps?

A silvered pin is actually to be expected on a Bronze clasp. The pin appears to be a replacement not because of its color but its lack of symmetry. It looks too uneven and rough compared to known original pins in my opinion.
