    FLL Para Badge

    Hi guys,

Wanted to show a recent purchase, a very close to mint unmarked FLL para badge. I have been looking for a nice one of these for a while and saw several at the SOS, but all were lacking in the eagle's finish. I finally found one out of Germany for a great price, actually cheaper than what they were going for at the SOS, and in far better condition. I would like to thank Andreas (AK) for helping me with this purchase since the seller didn't have paypal, very kind of him to help me with the transaction.

I have always like the typical FLL construction, with large block hinge, large headed hinge pin and thick wire catch. The rivets are also typical FLL luftwaffe construction, peened into a large lump! The wreath has the typical dark-grey finish, that also covers the hinge and catch, put not the central barrel of the hinge nor the pin. I was at first put off a bit by the rough back and thought it might be a clever casting, but the dimensions are in line with others I have on file. I actually think the rough appearance of the reverse of the wreath is actually due to the thick finish, as you can see the same type of surface on the solder of the hinge, so it most certainly isn't the material the wreath is made of, but rather the thick grey brennlack finish. All else is textbook, even down to the rough texture on the back of these FLL eagles.

    Tom

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
