Hi,
This badge is part of a large collection of military items we recently purchased at an estate auction. I have a feeling it is a fake. There are several things that make me question it's authenticity, but the two things that struck me right off are the way the pin is mounted & I would expect the back of the badge to be much smoother looking. I suppose it's possible that the pin mounting is just a very bad attempt at a repair & the not-so-smooth finish is the result of bouncing around in someone's footlocker for the past 50 or 60 years, but I read somewhere that Juncker was the "Tiffany & Co" of German badge makers & this piece just doesn't look to me like it was made by the best. I have no idea what kind of metal it is made of. It's heavy. It's marked "C.E. Juncker, Berlin SW" on the back. Expert opinions appreciated.
Thanks, Denise
