Hello,
Nice badge, what we see here is actually not a STufe A (or A Prüfung) badge but the so called badge for the Klasse 1 Segelfliegerschein.
These badges are rarely seen and do represent actually when a trainee already did posses the so called Segelfliegerschein Klasse I (so he already had the A,B and C badge) and now was on his way to fly double seated glider planes.
These badges can sometimes be observed on a uniform, but are not so common. You can see the difference in the way the wreath is made => norma A's have the wreath that go's through. The Klasse I's have the open wreath.
