need your help in this piece. not sure if its a good piece. the prongs look too thick for me and the front detail looks very intricate.

Well the reverse prongs looked odd at first and it could be original, but heavily polished.

the prongs do look think and as mentioned in my first post, i find it most suspicious.

they could have been resoldered, but if you look at the solder, the colour matches that of the main body and i dont think that a resoldered prongs was put on. so it means the prongs came with it and that thickness raises some red flags.

what you think?

It's a fake, it's a super casting, but in this configuration it should be stamped.., plus the prongs are too heavy.
I've seen a few more of these, they're on the market for at least 15 years or so..., they're quite nice though.

A very well cast eagle, not stamped by a machine, but made by pouring metal in a mould..
This is the problem with all badges and insignia, if they should be stamped, fakers have a problem and the only thing they can do is trying to copy them by casting.., because they dont have the heavy machines and the proper dies.
Zink stuff was cast most of the time, but the buntmetal, tombak stuff was forced by machines..
Fakers try to make the early stuff, but the error they make is that they can only copy them by casting and give them the appearance of a early piece.., result is a nice looking item, but not the real deal..
A cast piece has rounded edges, rims etc.., while stamped pieces are most of the time razor sharp..
It's all a trick of the eye and some items are good with just a few tiny errors which reveal the process.., one you already mentioned, the whole eagle + prongs are cast in one process.., the prongs aren't soldered nor crimped in, they might've been "cast-in" , this is not the German method...
