    Luft Transport clasp, for opinion.

    Hello Gents,
I looked to first find another Assmann marked Luft transport clasp but was unsuccessful. So I didn't get a good feeling then...do you think this is a repro?
    All comments welcome and appreciated.

    Regards,

Clasps are EXTREMELY difficult to evaluate by photograph, especially digital photograph, unless there is some glaring anomaly.

In this case, I don't like the appearance of the clasp or the pin structure. I can't tell if it is struck or cast from the photos alone, but, if struck, it is a poor strike. Additionally, Assmann may have made clasps, but I have never seen one (perhaps other collectors have). Even though the rivet looks nice, I have learned that a rivet, by itself, cannot "save" an otherwise questionable clasp.

Sorry to be so negative, but in the absence of a a detailed "hands-on" of this clasp, which might make me feel better about it, I would simply not buy it. This type clasp is not rare, so I would personally wait for a better example.

It looks promising from the front, but man oh man, I don't like that pin, or where it dips down around the holes where the center meets the wings. Also, as stated, I've never heard of Assmann making these before. Nor have I seen an Assmann made piece with that sort of catch before. I'd stay away from this one.
