NEW PO arrived in the mail from England

    A post for Doug See.

This picture, better than my eBay picture in 1998 when I saw it blurrily...

I didn't know Tim, I didn't know Shinola. So, high bidder at $140 US, yeah, OK.

And look at that laser sharp detail to the eagle. What craftsmanship, what design, like it was made yesterday it's so clean.

A Luft style hinge, wow. Still has all the paint from the wreath, man that's mint. Who likes those worn badges anyway, dirty, icky, nasty wear and ME109 or worse Heinkel engine oil befouling a badge. No not me.

Catch looks nicely imbedded into wreath.

But, with all those lasers and obvious work, you still don't look like me? Yes, I'm the real deal...

The case and badge are fakes... But I still like the combo. Sits on my desk, for fun. Show the people who want to see the real thing but don't know good from bad this one so they don't rub what finish remains on the real ones. And yes, if they were ever really serious about EVER collecting even one badge, I'd show them the real McCoy. But to a blind man...

So, Doug, let them read, read and measure. They'll never get it right.

I still haven't returned the AWS but come on, it's oily feeling like lead, it's almost a perfect copy, but heavy.

The cast copies can never get the weight right, the details never crisp enough. The laser is like t shirt art or something, cool, but not real.

And the ones we've never seen, never heard of, those are going to be difficult. Made of steel or zinc and construction just right. Difficult.

The only way to ensure the validity of this sport is to post pictures of your real items TODAY. The longer an unknown badge sits undocumented, the harder it WILL become to validate. Why? The fakes, those unknowns coming out of the woodwork will look good, better, great and will be worth nothing without validity. So POST NOW or we all lose.

                      Dear Brian,

I'm not sure about the badge, looks iffy at a first glance, I wouldn't buy it though and the box is an out and out 101% fake I'm afraid.

Where/who did you get this from please.

                      Kind regards,

                      Marcus

Read post number 8. My point to Doug is the fakers can make pretty stuff, but not convincing.

Took a chance on blurry pictures in 1998. It was the last blurry item I bought.

                          Hi Brian,

Yeah, sorry I took a bit long in posting a reply, others posted and yourself while I was checking several of these repro. boxes I have.

I fell for several of these boxes and awards from a noted dealer in the UK over a long duration shall we say!!!! The awards were fake too.

Not convincing, then your a better man than I, I've fallen to several fakes knowing no better..........with the books at my disposal and with the credited dealer I thought I was in safe hands. Only until I came on the forum, am I learning about these fakes.

Have you got any more reproduction pictures of any badges, if so post them please, I need all the help I can get.

                          Kind regards,

                          Marcus

You don't need to see more repros, you need to compare what you buy or are about to buy. Even then you are just looking at pics and until you have it in hand you better have a money back guarantee. You just have to do it the same way Joe d'Erricho did it, buy from reputable sources. Amass a small army of eagles and you'll know what you're doing, most of the time.
