    LW Groundassault badge

    Hello ,

Very love to hear your opinions about this LW Gab , one rivet construction.
Have some thoughts about the finishing , especially the eagle..

Looks like a nice zinc badge to me. Pin and clasp look just right. You have a problem with the eagle maybe being touched up?

      Hi Marc,

That a perfect SC Juncker Luft ground assault badge. last discussed in this threat

      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=31140

IMO the eagle isn't touched up it's just made of a very high quality alloy.

Interesting feature on yours is the round catchplate. Normaly these are found with the typical oval Juncker style catchplate.

Just yesterday I found a Zimmerman PAB that also was the first for me with that type of round instead of an oval catchplate and I was able to establish that this was still an earlier version.

So I would think that yours also is an earlier type but this also proofs that we can't be sure that this badge was made by Juncker.

        Hi guys,

nice Ground Assault but I would tend to thinkthat the front has been cleaned.
Look at the heavy patina on the back and compare that to the shiny silver wreath on the front.

        Otherwise just dandy.

          Hi Skipy,

No, the patina on the back is realy a result from the strange type of finish these badges received.

Look at my badge in the thread mentioned above, same reverse patina, never cleaned but with more wear to the observe. You realy can't compare these badges to any other LGCB's when it comes to finish.

            Hello ,

I had indeed some problems with the eagle , the frosted part is thicker than normal seen by this or other badges .. positive are the highly polished swas , claws and the top of the wings .

On the back , no patina here skip , but looks like it's brown anodized .
Actually the badge is stone mint and never touched .

Thanks for as allways your observations Philippe , you are really a walking reference book ... and a good too

I also thought on a Juncker manuf. but the round catchplate was a problem to me.

              Phil,

yours looks just right when you compare front and back, the ageing "fits", but when you look at the one shown by Marc it does´nt.
Still think that the front has been cleaned a little.

Looks as mint as any I've ever seen. Unworn beauty.
