    Question regarding Assmann Obs Badge

Hello gents,I recently aquired an Assmann Observer badge which I am very pleased with, however, the eagle is a little loose on the wreath. If you hold the badge upside down the swastika comes away from the wreath by about 2mm (I hope I'm explaining this ok).My query is,is this a 'normal' occurance on these badges? The rivets are intact but I guess my concern is that any slight 'mishap' might seperate the eagle from the wreath,

    regards,

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Alltough 2mm is quit a lot off movement, this is nothing the be worried about and if you don't play arround with it all day, chances a good that the eagle will stay on for another 60years.

The fact that the rivets aren't that thight as 60 years ago is just the result of natural wear.

      HI paul,

No big problem, some badges take a wack or get snagged & the eagle gives. I have had a few Luft badges with movement on the eagle in them. I assume that the rivet gets stretched in the wreath. You can find badges where the rivets have been hammered, I believe that this has been done to tighten the eagle.

If you are happy with it, keep it.

      Regards,

      Neil

You see this on GWL Pilot and Pilot/Observer badges a lot. I've had several and 2 out of 3 are a bit on the loose side.

            Hi,

it's more easy to see in zinc pieces this eagle moved inside, is yours zinc ? I have a pilot-observer in zinc that do that.
