    Luftwaffe breast eagle w/ snake?

    Hello,
This stuff surfaced here recently, a friend who knows I like military items sent me these photos. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on the breast eagle with snake wrapped around it?

The stuff belongs to a woman who got it all from an uncle. There are also photos of him with Howard Hughes, so I've been told.

I have no reason to doubt that it is all authentic. I've just never seen anything like the snake before. Could it be to a unit?

I was able to snag the cased bomber's clasp.

    Thanks for your help!

    Mike

Looks like a poor fantasy item, this is not something WW2 IMO.

          Hi,

Based off the looks/finish of the breast eagle and the ring I would say that these are biker items, similar to Iron Crosses with skulls on them.

You might want to post the bomber clasp to get it verfied here.

No need to verify the bomber clasp, it sold within minutes on the e-stand.

              Hi,

I would like to see photos of the bomber clasp.

The bomber clasp was part of a group of items which you believed to be all original. As has been shown in this thread several of the items in the grouping were questionable, particularly a breast eagle with snake wrapped around it and the ring. While an item in the company of fake/fantasy items does not make that item a fake itself, it surely warrants discussion/a look.

Just because something has sold does not make it original. While it is not unusual to remove pictures from the e-stand once something has sold, it is unusual to remove the pictures of the associated discussion thread.

You call into question the originallity of the clasp when you remove the discussion thread, especially when the clasp is not really pictured here.

              Just my 2 cents.

Why are you removing pictures from all your threads? The threads are useless without the pictures.

Why in such a hurry to sell an item, that you do not want is discussed and maybe find out who was the maker of it?

Maybe you could have gotten a "few" bucks more for the item, if it was a very sought after maker?

I remember the pictures of the cased bomber spange. There was nothing wrong with it.

I do not collect German militaria, and I do not need to milk every dime out of an item that I can not appreciate. Isn't that what the E-stand is for? Pass along a deal to another person who can use and appreciate the item, and not use it as an area to post your crap with dealer prices and mark-up? Maybe I have it wrong.

I have found that most of the people on here that post their "two cent" opinions only have one cent in their pocket.

I use this forum only as an avenue to cut loose German militaria that I find. I am not here to educate anyone and I do not keep photos posted once I have received payment on an item.

Their was nothing wrong with the clasp. Your forgery plagued hobby has made many of you paranoid to the point where you have no sense. You are all something else. There are people chiming in on an E-stand item they never saw. Really something else!

I am not trying to be beligerent, just giving you my "two cents".

                        Enjoy your hobby!

                          Mike,

Why not leave the pictures here in the thread? We are not trying to rip your item apart, or have an agenda. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on our hobby, but you came to usk looking for opinions and advice with a badge, the least you can do is leave the pics in the thread for future reference.

Removing pics from estand threads is fine and your choice, but please leave them in the discussion thread.

                          Thanks

                            Tom,
You need to check the facts. Go back and look at the title of this thread. I did not ask for help with the clasp. It was barely visible on the side of one of the pictures. I asked for opinions about the luftwaffe eagle. I posted the clasp on the E-stand for sale. All I did was mention the clasp in this thread. The clasp was not the focus of this thread. You are way off track here. Because multiple people have stuck their nose in a sale (post it being over) they tied it to this thread on suspicions that everything was bad in the photo (when in fact it wasn't).

                              Dear Mike,

As I was the one who linked this thread into the sales link I think I should respond.

You are correct in what you state in your posting that this thread was only dealing with the Luftwaffe eagle and snake. I initially asked you to post the clasp not knowing you were looking to sell the clasp. I did so since all of the other items in the picture (Eagle and Snake, ring, armband) were either fantasy pieces or questionable at best. I was not the only one who questioned the pieces that were in the picture. Two other members who are well versed collectors also found fault in the items. My intent was to vet the clasp for you so you did not get burned. My assumption was if 3-4 of the items were bad/questionable then the clasp might be bad also. By your questions, and perhap I was reading into your thread, you are not well versed in TR items (and the posting of an eagle snake for verification led to this belief). Clasps are one of the most difficult items to determine originality on. Just because someone bought it does not make it real. A novice collector might hav ebought it since the price was good.

When you offer the clasp for sale and then remove pictures of the clasp AND remove pictures from this thread which by your own admittance did not even picture the clasp, you shed doubt on your intientions, whether intended or not. Without pictures of the clasp no one could offer an opinion. Without pictures of the items in this thread (which did not show the clasp) you removed anyones ability to see what you were asking questions about which would have shown your minimal knowledge base of TR items.

It is not my intent here to question your intentions. I am only pointing out that, I believe, you have a limited knowledge base of TR items based on your initial question in this thread and by removing all pictures it appears you are trying to prevent anyone from offering an opinion. Perhaps the clasp, although in the company of bad items, was real and you made a profit and the buyer got a good deal. If that is the case then good for you and him/her.
