Opinions on these LW badges?

Army para is no good. The hinge, and catch for sure are not what I'd expect to see. Also, the "flashing" around the silver eagle shouldn't be there, either.

Sorry Bob for the short reply ,but the eagle,wreath and set-up are what I dislike with this badge

Hi Bob,
The 2nd Para pictured, the Luft Deumer, is a good one IMO. Eagle, wreath, and maker mark are all what one would expect to see on a period Deumer 2nd Pattern. The swaz is a little bent out of whack, but par for the course on this example - it seems to have had a rough life throughout. Too bad about the pin and catch!

Looks like the Army para is makermarked. What does it say?

Hi Bob,

I agree with the others, the Deumer Luft para is an original, but there is no hope for the Heer. The hinge, catch and finish does not correspond to originals. Can you give us some side shots of that interesting catch? Also, a closeup of the possible maker mark as Ludwig pointed out?

As far as moving this thread, I am going to keep it here because of the Deumer para and is relevant to Luftwaffe. I would suggest you start a separea thread on the Heer para in the FJ forum.

These are the best I can get with my current camera, of the pin, catch and hallmark. The hallmark doesn't read well on camera, but to the eye, it appears to be an L/58 or L/59.

Hi Bob,

L/58 would make sense, that is Souvals LDO number, and typically marked their post war products with it. Souval did not make the Heeres Para badge during the war, but made everything under the sun post-war. Your new pics prove that this is indeed NOT a wartime produced badge, and something Souval probably made in the 60s.
