Luftwaffe Badge Forum Moderator - Thomas Durante

Please join me in welcoming Tom Durante as our new Luftwaffe War and Qualification Badge Forum Moderator.

Most of us already know Tom (formerly "tdurante") as a proactive member of WAF since April 2001 and an ardent collector of Third Reich war and qualification badges. Tom brings with him a broad range of knowledge in Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine and Heer badges.

Tom is an experienced Moderator on other collector Forums as well as a published author of his recently released book The German Close Combat Clasp of World War II. He is a serious student of Third Reich badge construction and he has always shared his knowledge with his fellow collectors.

We are pleased to have Tom joining the Badge Moderator team.

    Welcome aboard, Tom!

Well, thats one less loudmouth I will have to hand out infractions to

Seriously guys, I really appreciate it. I have always had a soft spot for Luft badges and although I didn't post much in the past here, I have always followed closely. IMO, it makes the hobby so much more fun when you can compare the different badges each maker produced and provides for a more rounded "education" when researching. You see patterns emerge with makers in the same geographical area, or just with a specific maker, something that is hard to see when looking at only 1 small group of awards.

          Thanks guys.

          Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                  Hi Tom,
Glad to see you are here. And the first good thing that has happened is that you chased 'Beavis' away!

                  Regards,
                  Mark

PS- Are you headed to the MAX this year?

                      Congratulations, Tom.

Now maybe you can help us figure out who made all these unmarked flight clasps!

Congratulations Tom.... Or is it commiserations??? Hopefully with both Tom and Lorenzo working in the Lufty section it might get pushed to the front a little more the crosses and Heer sections seem to be constantly moving but Its been getting awfully quiet in here recently.

Welcome aboard Tom. Great observations. I've found the same thing transcending from Imperial to TR eras.
