    Hi Carlos

It reports to be a late war Assman Pilots badge. The finish on the front of the badge makes me think that it may have been resprayed at some point in its life

          Why ?

The rivets are typical late war, as are the Pin and Hinge. They are even made out of the correct material. It also has the correct Maker mark for this type of badge.

The hook differs from the standard and I am concerned about the finish to the front of the badge it does look like it has been resprayed.

The price is cheap but the quality of this badge is also cheap. IMO not the best investment. Assmann pilot badges are among the most beautiful ones but this one...

You should have been clearer in your answer that the badge is not fake but in your opinion a bad investment

It's a perfectly original, late-war Assmann. I don't see anything that indicates it has been 're-sprayed'... just over use of lighting when being photographed IMO.

I was wrong, I have no problem admitting it. I should have looked at the hardware and not yust the front...

I really do believe that this has seen sprayed silver at some point.

There is overspray on the back of the wreath and the left wing has not been sprayed correctly as the wreath got in the way.

There is also a colour variation on the back of the badge that I would not expect to see as the finish was originally applied evenly.

Does not matter it it is the picture/flash, oil or respray, will not tell without handling it.

Hi Folks - I can probably help with this one.

It has certainly been cleaned at some point, but definitely not resprayed.

The finish in the photos shows up as silver and uneven, but that is just the lighting. The finish is even and badge is much duller in real life than the pics show.

How can I be sure? Because I just bought it (Rich's opinion is good enough for me!) and I'm really pleased with it

Please don't ask me to take any phots of it because the chances of me taking a good picture are slightly less than me winning the 100 meters gold medal in Bejing

My opinion would also be a good badge thats probably been cleaned with a wire brush or similar.
