    Pilot's badge question

I'm being offered this pilot's badge for $490. First I'd like to ask the more knowledgable members if this would be a fair price for an unmarked buntmetall piece? I would also appreciate any opinions on the piece as well as if anyone can tell who the maker might have been? Any help is appreciated.

    Hello Richard,

The piece that you posted is an unmarked unknown maker. Piece looks fine to me and is one of the better examples that I have seen. I really like the face on the eagle, as it still has a lot of definition to it. The catch has been repaired; no matter $490.00 is a very good price for the piece. Also quite a bit of finish still left on it as well.

    Cordially yours,
    JD

A good one and looking at the solder job around the hinge, I do not even think that the catch is repaired.

For me also a well known, unmarked authentic zinc badge. Very good silver still on the front, which is unusual on these.

Hard to tell from the fuzzy pics if the hook has been resoldered, a shot from the side would be useful, might be original factory as these zincers often show such soldering.

              Price is ok to

                  Skipy,

Richard's badge is the much rarer buntmetal version of this unknown maker, John posted the more commonly encountered Zink badge
