I must say I like this one.
I have been in contact with some former "HG"-members (KC-holders) and none of them had ever seen this badge.
However, this is no guarantee this badge wasn´t awarded.
(Take for example the WSS cufftitle "Charlemagne". This was not handed out to all members of that unit, but some (staff-members if I remember right) got it and when asking old veterans they almost always give you tha answer "never saw one".)
So, I think it´s very possible that some of the "HG" division got this badge during the closing stages of the war.
I hope that some day a war-time photo will turn up that clearly shows this badge being worn.
Would be very interesting to hear all the "experts" then.
Some of the badges were of quite poor quality. Check for exmple some of the WL Ground assault badges, CCCs made by Hymmen & Co, some of the Infantry assault badges etc.
That is opposite my experience with former HG members. None had ever seen the LW panzer badge, numbered ground assault badge, or the LW close combat clasp yet both were awarded the Heer/SS clasp.
For those who want to know, this badge isn't mine..
It's for sale on www.warelics.com
I personaly don't believe in them ,for I never saw a real one with provenance in my life..
This zinker looks very convincing though, even better when it was unmarked..
