BSW pilots badge hings question

hi a question for you guys i got a pilots badge in a boxs of odds and ends at a fair a few years agao and it came in 4 peices, iv since put it back together and have assummed it to be fake but then a few days ago i looked into how BSW badge shoud look and everything (ie the ~~ talons the dip in the wreath the shortened 3rd feather etc etc) BUT the pin hinge is correct!
now the pin hinge looks like a ww1 wound badge pin just a little bit higher and a bit thinner to! so im just wondering if anyone has seen a pin hinge like this on a BSW pilots badge at all? if it is fake such is life as i actuly didnt pay any much for it but in the unlikley event that it is real hurra! well any help is cool oh and thanks by the way to francois for the pics!

If the badge is tombak the hinge should look like this. Zinc badges may have a different type of hinge though.

Hi Pad, sounds like you have a late, zinc example BSW... Have a look and see If there Is a piece of metal joining the talons (on the right hand side) to the 'swas' If so, good sign..
I have this example in my files (hope the owner doesn't mind) of a late BSW with what is considered to be an accepted hinge of the type you mention...

christ thats the pin!!!!!! il have to get some good pics of it! i think that there is a bit of metal joining the talons but il have to wait till i get home to be sure! also the badge is made of zinc and has a fair bit of the bubbling you get with zink badgesa(i know that doesnt mean much but stiill!!)
il have a good look at the badge when i get home and il get back as soon as i can!!

The photo above which was posted by Mr. Temple-West is in my collection and I certainly don't mind him posting this picture, which I had featured on the Forum some time ago.

It is good to have this badge as a reference and am glad to see it used here, as it is the only pilot's badge in my collection which was given to me by its original owner. This ex-Luftwaffe pilot is an old friend from Munich and much to my surprise, he presented it to me in the summer of 2000 while we were together near Dresden. He was awarded the badge in October 1943. He flew JU88's and ME262's in the war and remained an active pilot up until 1999. You can't see it very well but his initials are on the right wing of the eagle.

my pin is the same! oh and temple-west as i said my badge came in 4 peices BUT but i can see where the talons joined onto the swatiza!! i guess this is a good sign then???? the only way may badge differs is the catch is like a C that is slightly on its side but i have seen late war BSW with this kind of pin(francois has one i believe!!)
i must get some pics of it! and how it came to be in such a state i do not know!! ok so il be honest with you all when i got the badge home those few years ago i kinda superglued the badge together!! is there any way of better putting it together apart from superglue!! (i have to stress i never even thought the badge was real until i saw the marker marks look similer on a gunners badge on estand!!) so now what should i do??
