    Observer badge ?

I found "the one" for me but declined to buy as felt far overpriced desite being a total gem (uncased) in Tombak at 2K. I've seen medium cased examples on various sites (the higher priced ones) in the 1500-1700 range. Whats a current TOP value for a great uncased observer with our lousy dollar ? Seller is US based. Just like to know I was smart to walk away at it being overpriced, just felt 2,000 way out of the normal thinking reality park.

$ 2000 is not really off the mark as far as tombak observer goes. It seems to be good price for a gem quality badge, I paid just over that few months ago and although the badge is of good quality make and in excellent condition its certainly not a gem (well, not for the most of us anyways ). But they come about so rarely comparing to say pilots badges that they sell quickly. I'd put Top value at above 2K for sure.
    cheers

      Mark,

You did right. If your gut tells you that the item is not worth the asking price, then it isn't. You will always look at the piece with the purchase price first in your mind and the beauty or historical significance of it last. The only way you'll ever truely enjoy a piece after overpaying for it is when the over-inflated prices continue and allow the item to sell for double of what it lists for today.

Don't worry, the economy is going bad and will probably get worse before we see better days again. Many of these short-term speculators are starting to wonder if they will see great returns on their "investments" and are now starting to sell off their items in case the prices start to drop or collectors just quit buying at these insane prices.

Be paitient, there will be another one down the road.
      Tim

Hey Mark, there was a couple nice examples recently on the eStand for less than 2k so I think it's too high.
