New Flak badge in the collection

    Hi Guys,
Here is a badge I got a few months ago from fellow teacher. I have always favored this maker of Flaks the best. Does anyone know the maker? Have you noticed how these badges seem to appear most of the time in early war photos?

I have noticed that this maker varies in how high or low on the wreath the eagle is positioned.
    Regards,
    Jody

    Hi Jody,

these are my favourite Flaks as well.I have the "buntmetaller" and the zinc type. Both are exceptional quality and high detail.

I prefer these even in comparision to Juncker Flaks, which are, in my opinion, a bit "washy"

        Hi Guys

I think the closest we ever came to a maker was when, Nick, If I remember correctly, posted such a badge with a "boxed 5". But than again nobody believed in the Wernstein trail.

Every Wernstein maker marked badge I have ever seen (W in a circle logo) has a soldered on standard hinge, with or without the scalloped lower edge (most scalloped). I have never seen a Wernstein badge with a crimped in ball hinge. If they did make these flak badges, don't you think you would find some private purchase ones with the Wernstein maker mark? That would ice it if anyone has one.

Interesting mark.....it does seem weird that i have not seen any other wernstein badges marked this way but i dont think we should discount it out of hand... what is the verdict on this mark...is it punched in to the badge or is it part of the die??

                  Sorry Eric

You started your thread with "Nickel plated" and my degenerating memory changed Nickel in to NICK.

So I used Eric's and not Nick's picture that was first featured in this thread

Don't know if this helps Mike.

                    Flak Badge

Has anyone seen good fakes of this badge? I have not, I feel they are a safer item then a Juncker or a G.B. example.

No problem Philippe! This is the only one by this particular maker I've seen to date that has the "5" in the reverse. Ever since I bought it I have been looking for further information or a second example, but I still have not come up with anything yet.
