    GWL Observer badge

I am pretty sure this is a good observer badge, but would love some other opinions.
It came right out of a vet's estate in New York.

Seems to have had all of its original finish worn off. Is this tomback?

    Thanks

      The back.

I did some studying of other GWL badges and although the scan isnt clear, I think the hallmark is the same as the other good badges. I see a small "flaw" around the 8oclock position.

For some reason, I thought that these were supposed to have a "fingerprint" mark on the back, or am I mistaken?

      Thanks

Only the pilot's badges are generally encountered with the fingerprint. Based on your scans, I don't see any red flags so far.

Thanks for the thumbs up. From my lurking on this site, I had a pretty good feeling that it was good, but had recalled a recent thread or two about the fingerprint on the GWL badges. You cleared it up for me.

          Best regards

I dont have many luft badges, but this one joins the party. The PO badge is a Juncker in the original case. Still a humble start.

            Thanks

Your observer is an original tombak GWL. I agree with Larry that the pilots were the only ones with a fingerprint on the back.

Too bad about the Juncker P/O getting chopped up, that's a nice piece.

                  Hello,

This is the rest of the group to the observer. The whole thing was a vet bring back, including the silver wound badge from above. The war merit cross has a 43 in a box on the pin and a war time (at least it look like that to me) repair on the catch. The iron cross isnt marked.

                  Thanks for looking.
