Need some opinions on this Front Flight Spange: Is it gold or is it bronze?

Mark,I would say Gold as it looks like it had a hanger on it at some point.Jay Parisi

My guess would be gold. The problem, however, is that with some makers the "slots" for pendant attachment were built into the die or mold and show up on all classes! If there is actual "solder remnant" (I can't tell from the photo), it would almost certainly be a real gold. Early versions of this clasp, like yours, are very scarce!

I agree that, with a pendant attachment, it would HAVE to be gold. But I was being a real 'weenie' and looking at the pin. The pin should be gold also. I think that the pin has just lost some of the gilting.

Who knows why the pendant hangers were snipped???
