This is a museum copy of the Honor Salvar that I have had for years.

I bought it as a repro. However, it may have been made by Wagner as a museum display piece.

It has a very believable Wagner & Sohn, Alpaka mark.

There are major differences, such as the gap between the oak leaves and the lower acorns. The eagle is different. But to the wartime public in Germany, close enough.

        Name and date are rotoengraved

Just checked and Schlosser is on one of my lists which is dated 24.01.1945.

You will also see Franck on the same list. This is the recipient of the salver in my own collection shown in #47.

They have a very attractive look to them, just like the honor goblets. Why where they awarded ? For what achiefment in (combat)?

The inscription reads "In Anerkennung Hervorragender Kampfleistungen". They were given in recognition of extraordinary ground combat achievements rather than aerial combat.

                    Honor Salver

Another one of these, which I do not see mentioned so far in this thread, is being sold at Ratisbon's Auction today for $8000+.

                    Unteroffizier Emil Reher, 26/12/43.

Take a look and see what you think.

                      Thanks John.

That looks like a very nice example. Someone got themselves a bargain and they know it...

BTW, the claim that approx 50 Ehrenschale were awarded is nonsense. I have listed so far 95 recipients and the list is still growing, albeit slowly.

If anyone wants a copy of the list, please PM me.

Thanks for the list Stan. I will check my salvor against the list. If it isn't listed I will send you pictures for your opinion. I have this salvor for over 30 years.

                            Thanks again.
