    GWL Flak Badge on e-stand

    Hello,

Please make comment on this particular badge on the e-stand:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=218056

I see some of the very same die characteristics on the reverse side of this badge as the GWL fake in the fakes forum...the maker mark, the indents at the bottom right of the catch, etc...

        Hello All,
I am the owner of the badge being offered on e-stand and I took some better shoots of my badge. IMHO the badge shown below from the fake gallery is cast copy of very same badge I have for sale. To start with my badge has a very smooth reverse with some spotting left from the original finish which you do not have on the badge from the fake gallery. Also my indents towards the bottom ( hard to see it on pictures) look like the actuals indents. And of course the rivets are different. Please feel free to comment ...
        Thanks
        Thomas

I might be wrong on the tombak part ... it weights 24.8 gr.

              FW200,

I like your rivets, and the inherent die flaw to the base of the gun's turret, right side. Your example is exactly what I expect to see from searching the archives for an original GWL flak. The hollow rivets in the e-stand flak just are non-typical for this maker...

Does your badge have any hairline cracks on the reverse?

                    Thomas,

Like I said, I am a new flak collector. I searched the archives for examples of original GWL flaks, and just couldn't find an original example with rivets like yours. I next went to the fakes gallery and found that badge without the inherent flaws and the indents and same GWL maker mark. If I've made a mistake, I'm sorry. I'm just doing my homework, and trying to find validity in your badge.

                    Robert

                      Hi FW200,
I am looking very closely and I do nto see any hairline cracks axcept for one small crack on the top of the left rivet but it does not look like "hairline" crack you can expect on some tombak badges. I will try to take a pic and post it in a few. Also my badge does have a line at the base of the gun on the right hand side (reverse).

                        Hey Robert,
No probelm at all. I do not mind and I would do the same thing for sure so not to worry. If this is badge is deemed to be fake , oh well, it will come of the estand for sure.
                        Regards
                        Thomas

I agree that the badge on the E-Stand looks like the fake discussed here:
                          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&highlight=GWL

Robert is correct that the indentations on the reverse match the fake badge. Also the rivets are not the typical GWL type.

Most interesting is that the weight given by the seller corresponds with the weight of the fake badge and not with an authentic GWL Flak.

Better close-up picures would be helpful....but for all the reasons cited above I believe the badge on the E-Stand is a fake

I am not sure if you can see it above the left top rivet ...

Hi Thomas. Can you give us good close-up shots of the front of the badge, especially the artillery and eagle details?
