    Ground combat badge opinions.

    Hi.

    I got this badge today.
I think it looks good but it is not stonehard. I can bend it a bit. The metal is a bit softer then normal I think.
Does it look like a known copy ?
I would like to hear opinions !

    Regards
    Derek

                Hi Derek,

Sorry, I must have missed this thread earlier. Be patient though, different time zones, etc.

OK, if you can bend this type of badge then imo you have a big problem - these should be made of unbendable zinc as they are a fairly thick badge to begin with. Further, looking at the close-up of the eadge, I see shiny silver metal, not dull grey zinc. Although the form of the badge, including the hinge/catch appear correct, I think the basemetal is incorrect and the finish is strange - bottom line, I strongly suspect this is a cast repro. Measurements/weight would confirm this, although I can't compare to my own examples for a few days due to impending travel.

                Regards
                Mike

Derek, can you write your name on a piece of paper with it? Like it is made of lead, the reason it would be soft enough to bend by hand.

These are pretty much agreed to be the last version of this badge made, lower quality zinc, cast in hinge & catch. At a minimum, someone did a poor job of re-painting the clouds and rocks.
