Two Flak Badges for your opinions please. The first is marked with the number 1 and the second is marked Junkers.

These badges came directly from Veterans to me as bring backs just as the two glider badges I posted previously did. I've never displayed any of them because I was always unsure of their originality. I guess some veterans purchased items later in life and claimed they were bring back items. Let me know what you think of these Flak badges.

I would really like you to send them to me if you would. The first one is clearly a fake trying to copy the G.B. marked Brehmer. It even uses the right hardware but the details are way soft, the roundel is wrong, and it has clear signs of casting, not to mention the erroneous "1."

The second is a good go at a second pattern Juncker. I have to say I have stared at the photos a good long time. THe problem with Juncker Flaks is the quality was middling on late second patterns, but the eagle on this one is clearly an early one. They did a good job with the maker mark and even hand filed it. The casting bubble on the backside is a giveaway.

I would bet dollars to donuts the measurements are just a tad small on these two. But I would like the chance to examine them in hand if you will let me. You never know. I would also like to use them in my book if they are fake (as I believe they are). These are two very convincing fakes for the average collector.

I would have to agree with the others. The first one is a bad fake, the second most likely a fake. As Marc said the quality on these Juncker flaks was not always the best, so it is not as easy to see the reproductions. best wishes,
