Suspicious case for Luftwaffe Pilot's Badge

I just received this case to a Luft. Pilot's Badge, and this looks very suspicious to me. This looks like a repro case that has been artificially aged and worn-down to look genuine. Please give me your opinions on this.

under the badge rest. Notice the pin recess background material is a blue flocking, not the usual fake leather.

the bottom side of the badge rest --- notice the material used is wood, or more like particle board.

The fake leather in it's "original" form.

                  Hi Yuri,

Although I'm no case expert, I tend to agree with you. The glue showing from the underside of the wooden insert has no signs of aging - is it hard or is it sort of "spongy"? Therer's no sign of the typical crazed yellow horseglue anywhere that I can see. Not for me.

                    Hi Yuri,
I am afraid I have to agree with you and with Mike. Apart from the visible spots the case looks very new to me. The wooden insert looks too me a lot like MDF???? Did they ever used wood for an insert on an original case?

On original cases they used animal glue like glue made from animal skin or glue made from animal bones. One characteristic is that this glue tends to crackle with age. This is due to the ever changing moisture in the air. You can easily check if the used glue is animal glue by making it a little wet with your finger. It should become sticky again. If it doesn’t…….wrong glue.

Hope this was a bit of a help.

Nice tip on the glue, making it wet, I must try that. the impression of the badge on the insert does not look right to me also

I bought this case on Ebay. Since in the Ebay auction he stated that "all sales are final" I did not ask for a refund. But after he found out the case was fake, he did not offer me a refund either. Which is fine, because I will only buy from him again when he offers his items on the E-Stand because I will be protected there (unlike Ebay).

Pissed off 'cause it's my own damn fault.

The seller should give Yuri his money back. Aged press board, come on!
