    Assmann Flak Badge opinions please

    Hi folks,
I am wanting to sell this badge, but I want opinions on it first. I got it in trade from a friend who bought it from a major member of this site. I have been told it is bad. Opinions?
    Many Thanks,
    Jody

      Hi Jody,

I can not help you directly. I have an identical Assmann marked badge, except for minor variation in the hinge (on yours the barrel segments are each about 1/3, whereas on mine the 2 outer segments are each 1/4 of the total barrel width).

I've had two concerns with mine - the first being that it is smaller than all my other LW Flak Badges (the WREATH measures 54.85 x 43.25 mm, EXcluding the eagle). The second being that the guy I bought it from told me he got it from a certain US dealer (recent author) of mixed reputation). A lot of the time I look at it and think it is OK, sometimes I look at it and think it might be a really good casting of a Juncker.

My example appears to be nickel-silver (or similar). No obvious casting marks but lots of hand file markings. The obverse detail is good. Pete C has had a look at it in the past and didn't ring any alarm bells with him at the time.

I still display mine with my other LW badges but it does have a question mark over it in my mind. If it's a repro, it's a very good one.

I agree with what is stated above...i might also add that i have seen some very good castings of this particular badge..very small bubbles(casting) that can be seen with a loop....i also do not like the inclused maker mark...i like A marked badges with the raised mark....

            Hi Jody,

sorry to say that I am in with the others here. I have also seen your type of badge around and I also hold it for a good copy.Note that Assmanns have no hole below tha breach.
Heres mine also to compare, looks like Lorenzos twin brother.
