    Hi Yuri,
Nice badge! This style of "Gunner" badge was not even instituted until 22 June 1942 - so production didn't even begin until a time later - by then all of the early thin wreaths
were long gone. I don't know of any of these Air Gunner badges without bolts that have thin wreaths. Those wreaths were pre war/early war as you know. You are lucky enough to have one with a buntmetall wreath - 9 out 10 were made with the lesser grade metal wreaths ( zinc, etc. ). Congrats!

Thanks Eric!! The eagle is buntmetall as well. The "feel" and construction of this badge reminds me of Type II Juncker Pilot's Badges.

          Hi Yuri

As the comments from other collectors, you have a nice badge. It is good addition to the LW collections. I am also looking for one to fill in my collection but the 1st thing I got to do is save more "ammo".

I don't have one without the lighting bolt but I got a early Juncker Air gunner radio operator badge (with lighting bolt). Nice to share with you and all other collectors.

          Cheers

The back of this badge, not the short CEJ mark. It came with the long Juncker mark.

Congrats on that badge Brian. These early thin ones are ALWAYS an excellent addition to ones Luft. collection. I just have a cased Type I Observer badge by Juncker, and it's gorgeous.

The existance of this badge points to the fact that Juncker still made Tombak Luft. badges right after July 1942.

I trully could not believe my luck when I finally found it. It wasn't cheap, but I've never seen another one like that ever. Other long-time collectors such as Roger Bender have never seen one of these Tombak Juncker badges as well.

From what I understand, this badge was given to aerial gunners, flight engineers, and aircrew meteorologists. Before its institution, these specialists were given the standard badge with lightning bolts that was also issued to radio operators.
