    Luftwaffe Badges - Opinions Please

    Hello All,
I'm a new collector and I've recently purchased 6 Luftwaffe badges from a collector in Austrailia. Last weekend I met a long time collector who informed me that the badges are not original. The collector also told me about this site which I immediately joined. Please take a look at the pictures and tell me what you think. Pilot and observer are both marked Juncker, top para is unmarked, bottom is Juncker. Air gunner, top Juncker, bottom G.H. Osang.

    Thanks

    John Klein

      fake, fake, fake, and ...............fake.

The rivets, hinges, catches, shape, details and colour are incorrect for the maker marks with which these badges are stamped. Also there is no other genuine type of Luftwaffe badge that these examples match.

Does the person from whom you purchased these badges have a return policy?

          Hello John,

As Yuri and frank have already said. FAKE and way off the mark. I would say that LW pieces is not a good starting point as a result of the exspense. However, if your intent on making this your starting point, then buy some originals from proven dealers. Some great sources are the E-stand, Detlev, Bill Shea. I would also suggest posting a pic of any medal that you are intent on , on the forum , the members will always help.

That type of approach will really reap great results and satisfaction as well.

          Best Regards,
          JD

            Hello John,
Yes, I must agree with the other members - all are not real. I hope you didn't pay too much for these pieces. Anyway possible to get your money back?

              Hi John,

I agree with the other responses - all badges appear to be repros. I hope you do have a money back guarantee.

I wouldn't mind finding out (via PM at least) who's giving Aussies a bad name.

              Regards
              Mike K

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

                Hello John,

I think that I have seen these badges somewhere. Did you buy them off of E-Pier?

                Best Regards,
                JD

                  Luftwaffe Badges

Thanks everybody. Obviously not the answer I was hoping for, but one I did expect after going through past threads on this site for a few hours. As far as a return policy goes, well I'll find out soon enough. This person is a private party not a dealer. Bought the first badge from he off Ebay. She did guarantee they are original so I'll let you know what happens. Mike K, I understand you wanting to clear the name of the Aussies but I'd rather not share her name at this point. Based on the many communications I've had with her, for now I'm going to hold on to the belief that she really believed them to be original also. I'll let you know if things change.

I'm using Tuckers new book as a reference for my Heer and Kriegs badges (avoiding his questionable examples), but have only this site for Luft authentication. Better believe I'll be posting here before I buy from now on.

                  Thanks Again!!!

                  John

                    Hi John;

Do you have a list of the questionable examples?
                    Best regards,

                    Tony
