'36 Pattern Juncker Para Badge Query

    Hi All,
The following is the latest addition to my Juncker badge family - a buntmetal silver wreath Parachutists Badge. I would like to hear your opinions / thoughts as to the approximate date of manufacture of this one. Being the earlier wreath pattern I know it's mid '42 or earlier - How much earlier? It weighs in at 39.7 grams and I am quite certain the base metal is not tombak, but rather a different buntmetal. My guess at the manufacture date is between '40 and '42
I don't think it's any earlier but maybe someone sees something I'm missing.
    Thanks Guys,
    ERIC

      Eric,
Here is a Juncker para with subdued wreath. Notice the differences in the wreaths of both badges. Your badge's wreath resembles a Juncker 3rd pattern pilot badge, heavy wide wreath. I'll post the pilot badge for comparison.

          Eric,
Here is the 3rd pattern Juncker pilot for comparison. Notice the rolled tips on the laurel leaves. The same detail to your para badge.

            I See It Too

            Hi Robert,
You know, I think you're right! It's not as early as I thought when you compare the Juncker wreaths! I myself have a 2nd and 3rd pattern Juncker Pilots Badge and and I compared the Para badge to both - I agree it resembles the 3rd pattern Pilots wreath rather than the typical Juncker Para wreath. So this piece must be mid war - mid to late '42 into '43 before the blackened version wreath on the Para came about, or maybe using up an existing stock of wreaths they already had. Anyone disagree with this? If so, please speak up! Thanks Robert for your eye opening answer. It was a great help! Can anyone share pics of an early silver wreath Juncker Para so I may be able to see the detail on one of these? I have an early JMME silver para - would this be pretty much the same as a early Juncker para? It's funny to me this thread didn't generate more responses - maybe people didn't see the obvious ( now! ) either?

              Hi Eric,

I think your badge is a '40-'42 piece. If you want, you can look my early type thin wreath in www.majorplm.com

                  Eric,
Glad to be of help. I'm with you on the idea that Juncker used this wreath either by mistake or due to a shortage of the other standard para type. It is definately a Juncker wreath and eagle. I do know that Juncker supplied W. Deumer and JMME with components to assist them in building some of their own flight badges. I'm not sure about the Para badges though. Maybe someone else can help with this.
Beautiful Para badge, John. Best example I've seen.

Thanks again guys for your inputs here, it is appreciated! So I presume it would be safe to say mid war badge here? I believe so now. @ Ivan: even with the 3rd pattern style wreath you think it could be '40 or '41 manufacture?

........yes, the range of yours in nickel can be end of '40-maybe '41- till the zinc type, who know exactly ?

J Temple is 2nd pattern in very good conditions, I would like to see the reverse.

I must to say 1st pattern is rare.
