There was a lot of discussion on these "Large A" eagles a couple of years ago. A lot of advanced Luftwaffe collectors believe these to be fake and prefer the ones with the small A and DRGM markings, as the one below.
They are controversial enough to where I would advise against them, though I cannot say for sure they are fake.
I agree with Mike..,there have been large discussions about these...,unfortunately real hard proof hasn't been found.
It all has to do with the fact that aluminum stuff like this should be marked D.R.G.M.,just like the aluminum flightbadges etc.
If the big A eagle had these extra letters than noone would have any doubt.
I remember the width, height and weight are the same as the DRGM eagle, same hinge and catch too..only the design is different.
Then the eagle in question is faked and that fake is smaller, heavier and has seperate hinge and catch...I always think it's funny that they're faking a fake..
I've studied these eagles and I must say the big A is a perfect made eagle, the only sad thing is the DRGM story..
Bottomline:Believe it or not..
As a note:
People like Detlev Niemann,Weitze etc, etc, are still selling these eagle,I've asked and answers were a bit like "we have no problems with these eagles.."
So,follow your heart...
