    Looking for B&NL P/O Photos

Anyone out there have images of a genuine B&NL P/O to post? I've seen repop's of this badge, but never a real one yet.

    Thanks,

    George

I have never heard of, nor seen an original B&NL P/O badge.

This thread beat me to the punch by a couple of weeks. At the SOS the guy at the next table had a B&N/L PO badge. I probably spent a couple of hours examining it. It was unquestionably a correct badge. Proper eagle, rivets, & catch etc. What bothered me was the gold finish on the wreath. It appeared much heavier than what I consider normal. My question is whether or not there is a way to plate a wreath without removing the eagle. Under magnification I can't find any trace of gold on the eagle or the rivets, only the wreath. I took some photos, but it will be a couple of weeks before I can post them. So, George's question stands. Anyone ever seen a real one?

        Hi George,

I don't recall ever seeing a genuine B&NL PO badge either. I await snigley's pics with interest.

              Hi,

here are photos sent to me for ask an opinion from a friend of mine. In some days I will have it in my hands but I don't think can help you because I believe is a normal pilot badge, not P/O, even if it has this "strange" colour in wreath like old gilding.
              I thought B&NL has made P/O badges.

                  Dear Ivan,

Yes, especially with that dark eagle I would say regular pilot too.

                  Cheers, Frank

....yes, I thought me too for the same raison. It's a very nice abdge but I think the recepient has put a polish to protect it, it come direct from a german pilot vet, and then in time take this colour.

                      Hi Ivan,

I agree that the badge imaged is most likely a Pilot's badge, not a PO. My B&NL has most of it's frosting remaining but in places it has darkened to a yellow orange. Also, a friend has a Pilot's badge which, when he received it, had a dirty yellow aging to the frosting - he acetoned it (yes, I agree, in this case shock horror ) and the yellow turned out to be a quickly removed laquer. Personally, I think this was manufacturer (ie B&NL) applied and was mortified when he told me!!

                      Regards

I too agree with the Mike and Frank - a regular Pilots Badge. I have seen the frosting take a yellow orange color many times on a B&NL Pilots Badge. The dark eagle pretty much sets it in stone for me.
