The tension foot plate on ball hinge badges can be seen in two different configurations as illustrated in this comparison of unmarked Minesweepers -- one with a tight bend and the other with loose bend (like that seen on the ball hinge gliders).Comment

Of course, like everything else, ball hinges have been faked like this Staegemeir example, but there's usually something weird in the appearance of the ball or the crimp or the pin to tip off the close observer.Comment
